Hello from Mooreland Hill!
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our community. Founded in 1930, Mooreland is a close-knit, community school serving students from K-9 grades.
As you explore our community, there are a few things that I think are important for you to know:
We are small by design. Mooreland functions as a close-knit community. Teachers and students engage in intellectual growth, collaborate with one another, and push each other to take risks. We believe that this is done best in a small, caring, supportive community setting.
We believe in the importance of the team. No one person can do it all alone, especially when it comes to educating young people. Teachers, parents, students, and the greater community must come together on a daily basis in order for students to fulfill their potential. We emphasize a strong home/school partnership.
We believe in joyful learning. Learning should be fun, exciting, and engaging for all students. Learning "sticks" when students enjoy what they are doing. Laughter permeates the school.
Mooreland also aims to educate the whole child, and takes time to instill values that will last a lifetime. Our Statement of Purpose reflects this: “Moral character, a strong sense of community, and an understanding of the responsibility of citizenship are stressed through the curriculum, community service activities, and a partnership among parents, students, and the school.” We inspire in our students a sense of morality, community, and responsibility that endures.
I hope you will consider a visit to the campus so that I can greet you in person and share with you more about what makes Mooreland Hill School such a special community.
